BIRLA MUSEUM- The Birla Museum in Bhopal is home to some very old and interesting sculptures. The Siva gallery inside the museum has two 10th century sculptures from Ashapuri a dancing Ganesh and an Uma-Maheshwari. The Bhimbetka rock shelter displays white-and-red Stone Age paintings.
BHOJPUR TEMPLE- Known as Somnath of the East, Bhojpur Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located on the banks of the Vetraveti River in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh, the temple gets its name from King Bhoj who once ruled the area surrounding the temple.
UPPER LAKE- The oldest manmade lake in the country, it is known as Bada Talaab or the big lake. The Lake is constructed on the Kolas River and it is believed that King Bhoj's skin disease was cured by the huge lake he built. With a catchment area of over 36 sq km, the lake is the main source of potable water for Bhopal. The lake is a favorite with water sport enthusiasts.
ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM- The museum has many exhibits that present an impressive collection of sculptures from all over the state of Madhya Pradesh. The museum showcases the rich tradition of Bhopal with artifacts like paintings from Bagh caves, statues of Vishnu, Lakshmi, Shiva and Vishnu.
