OVERVIEW- Orchha literally means hidden place and it stays true to its name, it is located in Madhya Pradesh. But with beautiful monuments, both big and small, revealing tales of battles between kings and emperors, Orchha deserves a trip of its own. Once the capital of the Bundela Rajput kings, Orchha was established by Maharaja Rudra Pratap Singh in 1501. The medieval city has since seemingly frozen in time. Its several monuments continue to retain their original grandeur even as the city itself seems quite content to be hidden away from the throngs of tourists that descend upon Madhya Pradesh year after year.
JHANSI- One of the most important venues of India's first war of independence in 1857 and the erstwhile capital of Rani Lakshmibai's kingdom. Jhansi serves as the gateway to Bundelkhand region. Along with Jhansi, Panna, Orchha and Khajuraho are some of the prominent places which fall under Bundelkhand region.
ORCHHA- The meaning of the place, Orchha is a hidden place and it perfectly justifies this small village hidden by the forests. Its grandeur has been captured in stone, frozen in time a rich legacy to the ages. It is a major tourist attraction of Madhya Pradesh because of the number of beautifully built palaces, temples and cenotaphs built in the 16th and 17th centuries reflecting the rich Bundela art and architecture.
