OVERVIEW- Situated at the foothills of the eastern Himalayas in the Sonitpur district of Assam, Nameri National Park is the last home to the White-winged wood duck, the most endangered species of ducks in India. The national park is also home to a substantial population of elephants. Declared a forest reserve by the government in the year 1978 and later a sanctuary in the year 1985, the flora of Nameri National Park ranges to about 600 different species. Nameri National Park is also home to birds such as hornbills, wood ducks and plovers to bee eaters and babblers making it a favorite among wildlife and nature enthusiasts and photographers. Some of the most popular activities in the park include white water rafting and fishing.
GUWAHATI- Considered to be the gateway to North East India, Guwahati is the largest city in the region. It is situated between the southern bank of Brahmaputra River and the foothills of the Shillong plateau. Dispur, a part of Guwahati, serves as the capital of Assam. The hill ringed, green wooded, river bordered urban centre was also known as Light of East in the ancient times. Popularly also known as City of Temples as the temples are perched on hills or on hillsides which offer panoramic view of the vast Brahmaputra as well as the bustling city.
SHILLONG- Shillong is popularly known as the Scotland of the East and is famous for its picturesque rolls of hills, abundance of flora and fauna and its music culture. The Capital of Meghalaya, Shillong is one of the major tourist destinations in North East India. The British loved this place so much that they had established its Capital for Eastern Bengal and Assam.
NAMERI NATIONAL PARK- Nameri National Park is located in the foothills of the Eastern Himalaya in the Sonitpur District of Assam, India. It is one of the richest and most threatened reservoirs of plant and animal life in the world. Nameri national park is famous for its elephants and other animals including tigers, leopards, gaurs, wild pigs, sambars, etc. and also for being a bird watchers paradise.

DAY 1: GUWAHATI/SHILLONG - NAMERI NATIONAL PARK
Today drive to Nameri National Park. Transfer to hotel. Evening at leisure to enjoy wonders of nature or you can go for a leisure walk around the place. If you wish one can make a visit to the nearby Pygmy Hog Foundation and learn about the species. The Pygmy Hogs are one of the world's most endangered mammals. These Pygmy Hogs are kept in captive breeding in Guwahati and now they are kept in semi-natural conditions of Nameri before being set free into the park.

DAY 2: NAMERI NATIONAL PARK
In the morning drive 25 kms towards the river upstream and go on a fascinating river rafting on Jia Bhoroli River. Here one gets a chance to see a lot of migratory waterfowl and can even spot the Royal Bengal Tiger and the Elephant on the banks of the river from the boat. The 13 km stretch of rafting will takes around three hours.
After lunch we will go on a nature trail along the reserve where you will be accompanied with the knowledgeable forest guides and armed forest guards. The forest treks are the best way to explore the Nameri National Park as it allows you to get very close to the wildlife life. Here once can spot the rare species of white-winged wood ducks and the great hornbills.
Evening free for leisure.

DAY 3: - NAMERI NATIONAL PARK - GUWAHATI/SHILLONG
Day free for leisure and later depart at airport/station to catch your flight/train towards onward destination.
