OVERVIEW- Sivasagar is a historical tourist destination. Sivasagar was the capital of the mighty Ahoms, who ruled Assam for more than six hundred years before the advent of the British. The most remarkable landscape of the town is the 200 year old Sivasagar tank. The town, which literally means 'the ocean of Lord Shiva', is strewn with the tell-tale ruins of a powerful empire. On its banks are three significant temples Shivadol, Vishnudol and Devidol. These temples were built in 1734 by Queen Ambika, wife of Swargadeo Siba Singha. The most important temple is the Sivadol temple, is believed that the temple is the tallest temple dedicated to Shiva throughout India. The city offers archaeological remains, palaces and temples of the Ahoms, which are now preserved as protected national monuments.

JORHAT- Nestling on the northeastern part of Assam and along a tributary of River Brahmaputra, Jorhat is an important agricultural town for Assam. It is famous for its vast lying tea gardens and is also called the 'Tea capital of the world'. Since the time of British rule, Jorhat has been the main center for tea cultivation. Jorhat is the second major city in Assam after Guwahati and acts as a gateway to upper Assam and Nagaland.

DIBRUGARH- Dibrugarh is the major city in the north eastern region of India and is an emerging communication and industrial hub of North East India. Located on the banks of the river Dibru, a tributary of the Brahmaputra, Dibrugarh is considered to be the largest tea producer in the country. Rich in natural reserves, Dibrugarh is a perfect blend of natural beauty, tradition and culture. Gurgling rivers, lush greenery and sprawling tea gardens make Dibrugarh a paradise for nature lovers. Dibrugarh is also known as the "Tea City of India" as Dibrugarh district boasts of the highest amount of tea production in India.

SIVASAGAR- One of the holistic towns, Sivasagar formally called as Sibsagar is located in the upper ranges of Assam. This popular destination in Assam is set amidst the rich and diverse biodiversity surrounded by many historic attractions. The town, which literally means 'the ocean of Lord Shiva', is strewn with the tell-tale ruins of a powerful empire. On its banks are three significant temples Shivadol, Vishnudol and Devidol.

DAY 1: JORHAT/DIBRUGARH - SIVASAGAR

Drive to the Sivasagar enroute visiting Charaideo.

CHARAIDEO- Located 28 km away from Sivasagar, this was the capital of Ahom dynasty. This was built by Sukhapa, the founder of the Ahom dynasty. The main attraction of Charaideo is its burial vaults (or maidans) of the king and members of the Ahom dynasty. These vaults built of stones and bricks, are in ruins today.

Continue your drive to Sivasagar. Transfer to hotel. Evening at leisure to enjoy wonders of nature or you can go for a leisure walk around the place.

DAY 2: SIVASAGAR

After breakfast visit the Holistic Town - Sivasagar

SHIVA DOL, VISHNU DOL, DEVI DOL- The place is one of the most famous pilgrimage spots in the country. Shiva Dol is the tallest Shiva temple in the entire Northeast India. It is the highest temple in the country as well with a height of 104 feet. The Vishnu Dol and Devi Dol are other two small temples surrounding this tall temple and are dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Durga.

RANG GHAR- Often referred to as the 'Colosseum of the East', Rang Ghar is one of the oldest surviving amphitheaters of Asia. It is located near Rangpur Palace at a distance of 3 km from Sibsagar town. The name translates to 'House of Entertainment' and dates back to 1746 A.D. when the Ahoms used to rule present-day Assam. This monument is an important edifice reflecting the architectural precision and grandeur of that time.

TALATAL GHAR- Just 6km from the town, this is a three storey structure including and underground level. People come here for the lovely architecture, design and the great upkeep.

AHOM MUSEUM- It is on the banks of Sibsagar Lake and displays artefacts such as royal armoury, clothes, manuscripts, etc which belonged to the rulers of the Ahom dynasty.

SIBSAGAR LAKE/JOYSAGAR- Joysagar is a man-made lake that has historical significance. It was made by Swargadeo Rudra Singha, an Ahom king in the memory of his mother in the year 1697. Covering an area of 318, this is one of the largest man-made lakes in India. It is also the largest one constructed by the Ahom kings in Assam.

DAY 3: SIVASAGAR - JORHAT/DIBRUGARH 

Day free for leisure and later depart at airport/station to catch your flight/train towards onward destination.
