Manas -National Park

Manas National Park in Assam, a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site in India, allures visitors with its natural beauty, besides being home to more than 20 endangered species. Set at the foothills of the Bhutan-Himalayas, the sanctuary is blessed with rich biodiversity. A game reserve since 1928, it became a Tiger Reserve in 1974 and a World Heritage Site in 1985, before being declared a National Park in 1990. Spread over an area of 500sq. km, it consists of extensive grasslands.

The Manas National Park is home to 450 species of birds, 36 reptiles, 55 mammals and 3 amphibians. The semi-evergreen forests, moist and dry deciduous forests, grasslands, and woodland are ideal for wilderness. The popular inhabitants include the Indian Tigers, Indian Rhinoceros, Asian Elephants, Leopards, Black Panther, Asian Golden Cat, Barking Deer, Hornbill, Pelicans, etc. It is home to one of the world's rarest simian species, the golden langur. It is the home to Pygmy hog, found nowhere else in the world. Safaris allows the up-close view of the wildlife in their natural habitat.
