BHIMASHANKAR- Home to one of the 12 Jyotirlinga shrines in India, Bhimshankar is a prominent pilgrimage centre located in the ghat region of the Sahyadri hills in Maharashtra. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva resided in the form of Bhima in the Sahyadri hills at the request of the Gods to kill demon Tripurasura. Hence, the site surrounding the Jyotirlinga came to be called Bhimshankar.

DAY 1: MUMBAI/PUNE - BHIMASHANKAR

Drive to the holy shrine of Bhimashankar. Transfer to hotel. Day free for leisure.

DAY 2: BHIMASHANKAR

After breakfast, proceed for Darshan and Aarti

BHIMASHANKAR TEMPLE- Temple is a composite of old and the new structures in the Nagara style of architecture. It shows the excellency of the skills achieved by ancient Vishwakarma sculptors. It is a modest yet graceful temple and it dates back to 13th century and the Sabha Mandap developed in 18th century by Nana Phadnavis. The shikhara was built by Nana Phadnavis. The great Maratha ruler Shivaji is said to have made endowments to this temple to facilitate worship services.

SAHYADRI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY- The sanctuary is a paradise for wildlife lovers. The sanctuary provides shelter to the Jumbo size Indian Squirrel and various other species of animals and birds.

SAHYADRI TREKKING- Bhimashankar is a sought-after destination for trek lovers. Sahyadri Trekking features furrowed shape and stony mountains. Additionally, vast lakes, broad forest and historic hill fortresses are also major attractions of the trek.

DAY 3: BHIMASHANKARI - MUMBAI/PUNE

Day free for leisure and later, drive back to Mumbai/Pune to catch your flights/train towards onward destination.
