OVERVIEW- Patan is an old town which is located on the banks of the river Saraswati. This was once upon a time the capital of Gujarat and was founded by Vanraj Chavda in the 746 AD. It was during the Solanki period that the glory of Patan was at its peak as it was a great center of learning and a thriving trading hub as well. Tourists view the enthralling architecture of the temples of Patan. The Jain temples, with their intricate carvings, are the main attraction of the city.
AHMEDABAD- It is the largest city in Gujarat, associated with the great thinker and freedom fighter, Mahatma Gandhi. It is an exclusive blend of Hindu and Islamic styles of architecture. The city's prosperous and eventful past and present is embodied in its rich kaleidoscope of history, art and culture, rich architecture and imposing monuments. The city is a famous business hub and is well known for chemical and textile industries.
RAJKOT- Once the capital of the princely state of Saurashtra, Rajkot is now an important industrial city of the West Indian state of Gujarat. It is also popular as the place where Mahatma Gandhi had spent the initial years of his life and gained early education from a school. Home to some striking gardens, ashrams, lakes and temples, Rajkot is also quite popular for its handicraft items, jewelry market and special tie and dye or Bandhani, a beautiful cloth material.
BHUJ- Known popularly as the doorway to Kutch, the old walled city Bhuj is one the most important tourist destinations in India.
PATAN- Patan is an ancient fortified town, situated about 130 kms. north west of Ahmedabad, on the banks of the sacred Saraswati river. This town was founded by the Vanraj Chavda in 746 AD and enjoyed a privileged status of the capital of Gujarat, for about 600 years. The urban structure of the town is made of several places known as Pols. These towns contain old beautiful houses with carved wooden facades in traditional Gujarati architectural style.

DAY 2: PATAN
After breakfast, visit the city of Patan
TEMPLES- There are as many as 100 and more temples in Patan dedicated to various gods including a number of Jain temples. The most famous of these is Mahavir Swami Derasar in Dhnadherwad.
This temple is known for its beautifully engraved wooden dome. Among the other temples, the famous ones are Kalika Mata, Sidhwai Mata, Brahmakund. Hemachandra Gyan mandir stores many ancient manuscripts in Sanskrit and Prakrit, Hemachandra was a great scholar and is said to be the key man in formulating grammar for Guajarati.
SAHASTRALINGA TALAV- Situated in the north west of Patan, this is an artificial water storage tank constructed by the Chalukyan king Sidharaj Jai Singh in the late eleventh century. The tank gets water supply by a channel from river Sarasvati. Back then the tank would be brimming with water, the architectural design of the tank is praised for being the perfect amalgamation of design for water conservation and also reflection of the Hindu spirituality.

PATOLA SAREE MAKING UNIT: The beautiful hand-woven Patola Sarees are famous worldwide and Patan is said to be the home of Patola artists. It is one of the most sought after possession for women.
It takes a lot of time from starting to finish a patola saree. Lot of time, intricate work, hand-woven, all of this together contribute to raising the price of a Patola which mostly starts from 20,000 and goes up to several lakhs depending on the work done and thread used.
Later, drive back to Ahmedabad/Rajkot/Bhuj to catch your flights/train towards onward destination.
